Deuces Wild

It was back in 1986 when I first made contact with Peter Hague. The band were called 'Way Out West' in those early days. On Fury, we had released our first album called 'She's Just Rockin' and we advertised for unknown bands to send us their demos. Peter sent us a track called, 'I Love My Car", and we were so impressed with his guitar playing and singing that we named this track as the title of our second album on Fury. They recorded a few more tracks and the band were not happy with their name. They came up with the name 'Deuces Wild' from the poker game and the name stuck. It was around 1989 that they went on the road as 'Deuces Wild'. They came down to London and played at the famous 'Clay Pigeon' venue that I ran for ten years. The more times I saw them play, the more I kept thinking that they could cut a good album. I remember Peter was impressed by a Restless track called 'Crack Up And Fall To Pieces' on their second album, so he sat down with his guitar and came up with the manic 'Brutal Purity', which ended up as the title of the LP.
I hope you enjoy this release as much as I did when I heard it all those years ago. Another favourite of ours, which is one of the bonus tracks, is 'Radiation Ranch'. This album stands up well considering it came out all those years ago. Del Richardson - Fury Records
