This, the second CD from The TTs, was recorded in Terry Clemson's own studio with assistance from ex-Wild Angels pianist - the redoubtable Bill Kingston. Track 5 is a tribute to Chuck Berry.
The TT's
"The TT's are a very experienced and competent trio of musicians: Terry Clemson - lead guitar and vocals (ex-Downliners Sect), Eddle McManus - bass guitar (worked with Rob Storm, Kathy Kirby, Matthews Southern Comfort and Gene Vincent), and Richard Alien on drums (a change of drummer from their first CD). This is the second album 'dedicated to some of the great 1950's and 1960's artists we have loved and lost'. The CD seems set in a haunting, echoey 'lost highways' space. Mystery Train is a fast bright opener; Alabama Shake is a good jiver; Pretend continues the fast vein and drives along the melody; while a sense of calmer, open highway spaces is evoked in Flinget Bunt. The distance is positively tangible. Hey, Chuck rocks along in a Berry vein and is a great tribute idea; but by the time I reached Billy Fury's 'Fool's Errand' I got a bit travel-weary and fidgety in my seat. Elvis's 'Love Me' and Buddy's classic 'Crying, Waiting, Hoping' wavered on the Clemson clutch; I wanted the guitars to be given freedom to open up on that 'highway'. Happily the destination was reached in a 'super-charged' surge involving the catalytic piano playing of original Wild Angel Bill Kingston on the final track. Musically, the band have a tight sound; instrumentals are excellent. I can't wait to see them live." Maggie's Blue Suede News
