Memphis Rockabillies, Hillbillies & Honky Tonkers Volume 2

This CD is sub-titled 'The Erwin Records story', and concerns the releases on the Erwin label in the Fifties. Erwin records was started by Marshall Erwin Ellis, who had actually been a fiddle player. He also worked as a barber, and loaned one of his customers his first recording equipment, educated him about the value of publishing and and taught him the basic mechanics of running a small independent record label and establishing an affiliate publishing company. This company was Satellite Records, and eventually became better known as Stax Records. The booklet for this Rockabilly compilation CD is packed with information and pictures - a real treat for collectors of fifties Rockabilly.
