Scary B.O.O.M.

Scary Band of Original Music debuted with their first public performance in December 1992. At that time, traditional psychobilly was their style, and their sound reminded one of recordings by Archie and Batmobile, their favourite bands...
Scary B.O.O.M.'s appearance on the Russian club scene aroused the public's interest in psychobilly. The band took the lead in organizing psychobilly festivals, including the very first one, and authoured the only Russian psychobilly compilation to date, entitled 'Psychoburg', the brainchild of Kirill Ermichev, the band's front man.
Soon the band began experimenting with classical psychobilly, trying to fashion their own style. Musical critics nicknamed the new style 'scarybilly', after the band that came up with it. It combines a strange mix of psychobilly melodies, and grunge, funk, and techno rhythms. The only thing that remained intact from where they started, was their instruments: guitar, double bass, and drums.
Kirill Ermichev says; "Fellini has once said that when the cinema is on top of technical perfection, it will begin a triumphal return back to black and white film. This reflects the idea behind our music, and that is, to make modem music using traditional instruments of the early rock'n'roll age".
Now scarybilly is a style of its own and has become a distinctive part of post-modernist culture of the end of the 20th century with all its distinctive features. 'Food of the Gods' boasts a mix of styles and style imitations, and combines irony and seriousness. But nevertheless it also possesses an underlying idea, which stops us short of calling the album eclectic.
