The Firebirds are a British rock'n'roll band. They have a pretty 'polished' sound reminsicent of some of The Jets' material, yet they also have a distinctive Firebirds sound. Their records are always well made.
John Plummer founded The Firebirds in 1981 but quit the Bristol-based rock'n'roll band in 1993 because of family commitments. He rejoined in 2002 as rhythm guitarist in time to accompany his brother Jim, Richie and drummer Jason Bryant on a major trip to the US. Over the years, The Firebirds have backed Jerry Lee Lewis, Charlie Feathers, Ray Campi and Sleepy La Beef as well as British stars Marti Wilde and Lonnie Donegan.
The Firebirds have toured in Belgium, Germany, Holland, France, Denmark, Spain and Yugoslavia. The Firebirds' many recordings have included collaborations with Linda Gail Lewis and the world's first rock'n'roll DVD, which was filmed in Holland in 2001.
