Gene Vincent
An updated expansion of a 1989 Rockstar vinyl album. That long-deleted LP contained various studio out-takes, false starts and dialogue. They are all on this CD reissue along with an additional thirteen previously unissued tracks. The additional tracks were recorded by Gene Vincent at the Capitol Tower in Hollywood and Abbey Road Studios in London and showcase the variety of styles he was capable of handling during the period 1958-1961. These tracks were supervised by the legendary producers Ken Nelson (USA) and Norrie Paramor (UK). The recordings highlight Gene's versatility, performing anything from rock'n' roll standards such as 'Maybelline' and 'Rip it up' to ballads like 'You are the one for me' and 'Where have you been all my life'. 'Spaceship to Mars' was featured by Gene Vincent in the UK movie 'It's Trad, Dad', released in 1962."Absolutely amazing sound and booklet (not like some other English labels).....A real must..." Rockabilly Hall Of Fame
Gene Vincent lived his life for Rock 'n' Roll and will always be remembered for 'Be Bop A Lula', one of the greatest recordings of the 1950s. It made him an instant star and launched an extraordinary rollercoaster of a career that always seemed destined to end in tragedy. Along the way he recorded more than two hundred songs including many of the finest and best loved Rock 'n' Roll classics such as 'Bluejean Bop', 'Lotta Lovin' and 'Dance To The Bop'. He became an enormously influential figure, especially in Europe, known for his black leather image, hell-raising lifestyle and the sheer brilliance of his wild stage act.
