A fascinating glimpse of Eddie Cochran's earliest recordings made between 1953 and 1955 (The legendary Chuck Foreman recordings). As usual with Rockstar, the booklet is packed with info and pix (with a very young Eddie Cochran).

Eddie Cochran
"26 tracks, 48 mins. Those persistent folks at Rockstar come up with more unissued Eddie Cochran recordings - this time 26 previously unissued cuts made at the home of Chuck Foreman between 1953-55. It's all straight country material, often with an upbeat flavor and features Eddie on guitar and Foreman, who is usually in the lead role playing steel guitar. The emphasis is on jazzy instrumentals in the Speedy West/Jimmy Bryant mould though there are a number of vocals by a very young and uncertain sounding Eddie Cochran. Lavishly documented in great detail with amazing photos in the 16 page booklet. This will be of most interest to Eddie Cochran fans and music historians as the country music here is very ordinary and there is no real rock'n'roll for the rock'n'roll collector. Pleasant though." "Most of the (non studio) recordings here predate the Cochran Brothers' stuff, having been recorded by steel guitar virtuoso Chuck Foreman who shares some hot licks with Eddie on numbers like 'Rockin' It', 'Jammin' With Jimmy', 'Two Of A Kind' as well as on vocals like 'Steelin' The Blues' and 'Gambler's Guitar'. They also excel on slower tunes such as 'Tenderly'. In short, the best 'Flamin' Guitars', this side of Speedy West and Jimmy Bryant !! Other highlights include 'Rockin' & Flyin' (with Hank Cochran) and a live rendition of 'That's All Right, Mama' by Bob Denton. Great notes ; great packaging ; good sound ; don't miss another opportunity to witness Eddie's incredible talent at such a young age." Paul Vidal
