The Continentals
"While the Continentals have always been an example for young aspiring Rock'n'roll bands since January 1980, they themselves were subject to varying influences mostly rooted in changing line-ups, but never corresponding to current fashions or commercial considerations. The Continentals around the founding member and vocalist, Mike Roth, has stayed true to itself without wavering for more than two decades and thus created its typical sound out of its own new compositions and successful cover-versions. It is impossible not to hear the influences. While in the beginning the band gave its attention to the kings, as Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Carl Perkins, it was in the early eighties that also the Stray Cats, Shakin' Stevens, Robert Gordon and British neo-rockabilly bands as Crazy Cavan & the Rhythm Rockers or Matchbox were included as influences. In the early years of The Continentals, psychobilly bands as the British Meteors also played an important part. During the years 1989 - 1991, in which the albums Pink Cadillac and Oh Baby Doll were produced, the band took a liking to country rock bands as the Kentucky Headhunters or the master of groove, Dave Edmunds."
