Do your thing - Restless

The Boys are back in town!!....

Yes, after three years out and twenty-odd years down the line, Restless, generally regarded as the world's premier Neo-Rockabilly Trio, step up to the fore yet again, taking off with a world's worth of prime live gigs and flying on the back of their brand new release entitled 'Do your thing'. What a show-stopper this is! Twelve scintillating ALL ORIGINAL Rockin' smashes that are bound to blow your socks off. It's already been compared to their biggest seller 'Why don't you just rock', released way back in '82 when these guys were only knee-high to a grasshopper. What makes it so special? Simple, this band is back together as the original line-up. It's been a long time coming....
Record company blurb, 2002

"....the new do your thing cd is tops. It's good to see the original line up again. Keep 'em coming, Restless."

Until I saw Restless in the mid 80s I only liked 50s music. In fact I truly believed that there was no good contemporary music. But one night at the Klub Foot changed that! Seeing Restless for the first time was an experience I will never forget. Slick guitars, driving double bass, explosive energy - in short, my record collection had come to life and exploded onto a stage with a style and ferocity that stunned me!!! I went straight out and bought 'Why Don't You Just Rock'. A little while later, 'Edge On You' came out and I bought a copy from Roy Williams down in The Clarendon. Restless became a religion and I was in rock and roll heaven with what I believed, and still believe, were the greatest neo-rock and roll album and single ever made.
This morning 'Do Your Thing' arrived and I excitedly placed it in my CD player. What did I hear? Slick guitars, driving double bass, explosive energy and that style and ferocity that makes Restless the head and neck winners in a race of also-rans. Every track is a winner on 'Do Your Thing' from the opening tongue twisting, slappin' boogie of 'Shackled To A thing Called Love', through the hypnotic questioning of 'Who Told the Town' to the slightly overdriven bluesy 'Madness of Desire'.
This is the most confident Restless album of all. Restless have clearly missed Paul Harman whose absence since the second album suddenly seems apparent.
Believe in Rock and Roll, believe in Restless and 'Do Your Thing'. (W Jones 15/5/02)
