Jean Vincent
The third album from Britain's own Rockabilly Queen - Jean Vincent. Unlike her previous outings via the Dutch Rockhouse Records label, 'Rock'n'Roll Routes' not only acts as a new album presenting a host of great new material, but also as an overview of the highlights of her career to date - including the first CD release of the tracks from her much sought-after debut single. Jean Vincent has developed her own style of rockin' music which sees her performing a diverse range of material. She's certainly not afraid to experiment, but always stays true to her 50's Rock'n'Roll Roots. 'Rock 'n' Roll Routes' features guest appearances by a host of top names from the International Rock'n'Roll scene, including Tommy Sands, The Lennerockers, Little Frankie & The Townbeats and The Sinners.
"Some of the songs on this album are almost as old as me (!) and some are so new they're still in nappies! Lots of people have asked me to put this album out because my really old stuff is no longer available. So I've put together a compilation which covers 1985-2000. I can't name all of the brilliant musicians on these tracks because it would take an accompanying book, but needless to say I thank them all and am proud to have been associated with all of them. Where a complete band backed me on a track, it says so with the title. I must, however, thank the three musicians who believed in me from the start and got the ball rolling in 1984 with Jean Vincent and the Nite Capz. Chris, Fip and the good doctor Reeves have remained my bosom buddies, but I don't think they realise how important those crazy days were to the making of Jean Vincent, and I thank them. Next 'believer' was my Big Red Ted, P.B., who has sent me on missions throughout the uncivilised world for a mere ten per cent cut! Can't thank him enough for TCB with TLC. My bestest friend Nat has stuck with it too, offering moral support and chocolate in times of stress, and of course in recent years the gang has been completed by Spike and an ever-increasing herd of beautiful kids! I'm not sure if they drive me crazy or keep me sane, but I love 'em anyway. Then there's you - fancy buying an album like this! It's a mad, tongue-in-cheek collection of almost hits and you've forked out good money for it. Well thank you. Without you, there really would be no Jean Vincent." Booklet notes
