The Lucky Devils

The Lucky Devils are a French band playing a kind of Rock'n'Roll - a mix of different styles inherited from 50's and 60's Rockabilly, Garage and Surf but never actually sounding like one or the other of these styles, more a mixture of them all. It's really dynamic Rock'n'Roll, sometimes giving blue feelings and sad moods, sometimes taking your guts and moving you, with an agreesive guitar answering a melancholic voice, with thundering drums playing loud rythms while the slappin' bass hammers. It could make you think of the early Stray Cats, Reverend Horton Heat or Happy Drivers... 50 per cent of the songs they play are self penned, the other half are covers that they play in their own style - the result is baffling! Part Records 2002

Following the demise of the French band 'Mystery Train' in 1999, Ricky (Drums) and Phil (Guitar and vocals) met Vivien (Slap Bass) to form a band inspired by different styles of Rock inherited from the 50's and 60's (Rock'n'Roll, Rockabilly, Surf, Garage etc.). They blended into a unique style the critics called 'Power Rockabilly' or 'Kustomized Rock'n'Roll'. It's a powerful R'n'R made up of a majority of originals by the band and covers that they play in their very strong but melodic style that's half way between Neo-Rockabilly and Psychobilly.
After having played in lots of pubs, concerts halls, biker and custom car shows, tattoo conventions etc., the first album ('Time passes by') became available in March 2002 on the German label, Part Records, made up of thirteen tracks comprising of eight originals and five covers played in the band's own style.
After the success of this album, they played in lots of festivals (Hannover and Walldorf, in Germany, then England, Switzerland and Belgium), and as openers for major artists (Dick Rivers, Nekromantix, Guanabatz...). Due to growing demand, the second album 'Black with Flames' will be available on Part Records by the beginning of 2003 with thirteen tracks comprising of nine originals and four covers (Gene Vincent, Hank Williams, AC-DC...), featuring marvellous illustrations by the famous French Kustom graphic artist David VICENTE who designed a fantastic cover and pictures in the booklet for their album. With the Lucky Devils, there's a re-birth of Rock'n'Roll!! From http://www.members.aol.com/sdelsalle/pages/luckypag.html

"A peine le temps de boucler l'émission sur RCV et d'arriver (fatalement) à la bourre au Grand Mix qu'on se rend compte qu'il y a un truc qui cloche: King Khan et ses Shrines ne seront pas de la partie (et, apparemment, n'ont même jamais été réellement programmés..- ???). Shit. Les Lucky Devils, trio psychorockab' local, assurent une première partie plutôt sympathique et bien foutue."
