The Tritons
The Tritons are a British band from Sheffield who model themselves on Johnny Kidd and The Pirates (black leather pants, white shirts...). Some of them had previously been in The Blue Devils. In keeping with their early Sixties 'biker' image, the name comes from a custom motorcycle made from mixing a Triumph (Bonneville) engine with a Norton (Featherbed) frame. The Tritons play mainly British Rock'n'Roll from the late 50's and early 60's featuring songs from the likes of Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, early Cliff Richard and Billy Fury as well as the more obscure British artists. The idea for the band came from a conversation between Phil Ross and Billy Oxley who wanted to play a different style to their band The Blue Devils, which they didn’t want to change and keep totally separate. The Blue Devils' guitarist Shaun Sullivan and ex-Blue Devils drummer Chris Nagle was asked to complete the band's line up. Chris had given up drumming to return to bass playing. There has been a lot of interest in The Tritons since they started playing their first gigs some time back. They have played at London's big night out as well as gigs in the north of England. They have also played at Be Be's festival at Spenge, Germany and London’s Tennessee Club with Darrel Higham and the Enforcers.
The Tritons are:
Shaun Sullivan - Guitar
Phil Ross - Vocals
Billy Oxley - Drums
Chris Nagle - Bass Guitar
Part Records
