The Bricats

"Believe it or not: During my last sea cruise, I fell off the boat (there was this wild cocktail-party goin' on) and got stranded on the beach of some mysterious island. A weird lookin' masked man picked me up and told me I was on the Isle of Bricatannia where they swing under the sun and dance the Hula Jive! Well, what can I say? - He sure didn't lie to me: The whole island was jumpin' and rockin' all night and day! And: there was this band who called themselves 'The Bricats' - three guys, a guitar a double bass and a drumkit. They blew my top playin' that 50's style Rock and Roll in their own special way! And they were swinging!! All right, Kats and Kittens! - My souvenir for you is this delicious silver platter on which you'll find great swingin' tunes vocal harmonies, wild Rockabilly and even a few 'Hawaiian-style'songs! Nuff said - prepare your ears for Swing-O-Billy and - 'Welcome to Bricatannia!'" from cd liner notes

Is it Rock'n'Roll, is it Rockabilly, is it Swing... NO it's Swingabilly. 'What the hell is that?', I hear you saying. Well, buy the CD and find out, believe me, you won't be sorry. As soon as you start playing this CD it puts you in mind of The Tropics or Life on a Beach, then it runs into a fantastic jiving number with the title track, 'Welcome to Bricatannia'. 'Little Miss Roundheels' puts me in mind of a few bands all put together. My favourite tracks have got to be (1) 'Welcome To Bricatannia', (2) Being a Steel Guitar fan, 'Beach of Waikiki'. It's really good to hear it played Hawaiian style for a change. (3) 'Broke My Guitar' puts me in mind of 'Tom Graph' and 'Jerry Landis'. (4) Last, but not least, 'Sunset In Bricatannia'. I think all the tracks are all winners, a good variation of music, I'm sure you'll think so as well. I think you'll also agree you can hear music influenced by The Stargazers, The Big Six, The Crew Cuts, Tom & Jerry and Wout Steenhuis." Reveille Rock 2003
