Foggy Mountain Rockers

"Germany’s top Ted band, The Foggy Mountain Rockers, are here with a collection of early recordings that are catchy, rockin', and at time, awesome. This band plays fun, upbeat rock and roll/rockabilly with songs in both English and German. Mostly originals here with four covers that do justice to the originals. Their rendition of John Denver's 'Country Roads' is so good that you won't believe you’re rocking out to John Denver. No other band I have heard has been able to make John Denver rockin' other than Oi! Band Youngland's version of 'Thank God I'm A Country Boy'. Vocalist Heiko Piecha has a very clean singing style that goes well with the Rockers' style of Teddy Boy Rock and Roll. My only criticism of Ted bands is their use of electric bass rather than the standup doghouse bass which has so much more depth of tone than an electric. I can’t help but think how much more rockin' the Foggy Mountain Rockers could be if they employed a standup bass but that is a small complaint because these songs are fantastic and fans of rock and roll need to give these guys a serious listen." The Rockabilly Review

"The story starts in a small yard shed in the year 1992 where five Rock'n'roll maniacs out of the Bonn area, decided to meet to start a band. They practised hard and discussed their direction of music, deciding right from the beginning not just to play cover tunes but to develop their own style by combining all their individual interests. Compositions based on the motifs of British Teddyboy Rock'n'roll with influences of Skiffle and Country Music were the result.
After a number of practices the small shed was replaced by a bigger practice facility when Jörg 'Paul' Weber joined the band as the second guitar player and offered his parents' basement as an alternative place to jam. At that time the band also replaced their drummer and found an ideal successor in Sven Schürmann.
They now had: Heiko Piecha (Vocals), Mario Oehlmann (Guitar), Jörg 'Paul' Weber (Guitar), Frank 'Jummi' Jungbluth (Bass Guitar), Sven Schürmann (Drums) and Domenico 'Duck' Todaro (Percussion).
The six then performed their first few concerts in the Cologne/Bonn area. After attaining third place at the 'Rock'n'roll Newcomer Festival' in Bielefeld in 1993, the ambitious musicians got a name even beyond their western German stomping grounds. It was around the same time when they published their first sample recordings....." By Kai 'Möhre' Steffens
