Jesse Scinto

"Jesse Scinto and The Dignitaries is a four-peice rock'n'roll combo specialising in uptempo dance tunes, honkin' sax blowouts and tender ballads. Jesse's sax style has been compared to that of Big Jay McNeely and Joe Houston - innovators of the screamin' R&B sax sound that came into its own in the Fifties. Vocally, Jesse Scinto has been influenced by (and compared to) Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. Sophisticated arrangements and raw improvisation power this band through sets comprising of both originals and covers."

"...Jesse Scinto and the Dignitaries ... hit the nail on the head, a full-on backbeat homage to all the horn blowers of the era........" James Porter, Newcity

"Scinto's sax playing is fun, loud and wild!" Lisa Gault, Blues On Stage

"Rock & Roll Dream demands immediate attention ... It is some fun roots rock..." Richard Milne, WXRT 93.1 FM Chicago

"Since the formation of the Dignitaries in the summer of 1997, Jesse Scinto (pronounced SHIN-to) and his hand-picked crew have been tearin' up joints all over the Chicago area, including the House of Blues and Navy Pier. They are mainstays at local festivals and concert series, having appeared at the Wells Street Art Festival, BrookFest, Around the Coyote, the University of Chicago's 'Blues & Ribs', the Chicago Cultural Center's Birthday Series, and the Chicago Airport Music Festival, to name a few. Jesse has performed with Chicago's top blues artists, including a two-year stint with Grammy Award nominee Sam Lay.
In June of 2001, Jesse teamed up with international R&B sax legend Big Jay McNeely for a pair of rockin' shows at Rosa's Lounge in Chicago. These shows garnered the highly coveted 'Critic's Choice' in the Reader, the 'Blues Tip of the Week' in the New City, and the 'Concert Pick' in the Daily Herald.
Jesse Scinto also has had the honor of performing (with Rockin' Johnny) for former First Lady Hillary Clinton at her 50th birthday party held at the Chicago Cultural Center.
Originally from Colorado, Jesse Scinto has resided in Chicago since 1990. Before embracing the rock & roll lifestyle, he received a BA in history from the University of Chicago in 1994. His first band, 'The Jump Kings' was formed during a mystery-shrouded year in Toronto, Canada. He currently plays a late-vintage Selmer Mark VI tenor sax obtained from Willie Young, a former member of the Howlin' Wolf band. Interests include hiking, reading, dining out, and witty rapartee. Favorite sports team: Denver Broncos. Favorite TV shows: The Practice, Law & Order." From official biography - see website www.jessescinto.com
