The Detours

This is the Detours' second CD for Foottapping Records. They are a three-piece British Rockabilly band: "Fourteen tracks from the Bognor Boys and just like their set - Original Original Original!!! Someone New track 2 is a bopper with a slower start but when it kicks in it takes a turn with clean pickin and a neat rhythm. Track 3 Baby A hillbilly twist to this track a real yee haw hoppin and boppin easy listening singalong song that is my personal favourite on the album. Track 4. Aint Gonna Happen, not so keen on this but a good jiver probably because I sang it all bloody day after hearing it, that could be a good thing but the lyrics are a killer. Track 5. Let Me In. A faster paced jiver again the lyrics are brilliant and very singable. A credit to the writer. Track 6 Oowee Baby a stroller at last something I can do this is great a real bluesy stroller the right tempo even through the lead break yippee this should be a big dance floor hit. Track 7. Billy Joes. A bopper/ slow jiver plenty of pace for your moves. Track 8. Hop Cat Hop. Another bopper a bit more energy needed for this one. Track 9. Party Time (The Title Track) Bopper/Jiver but in my opinion not the strongest track, still good though. Track 10. It Cant Be True, another stroller/ ballad-ish really nice swaying number. Track 11. My Baby Told Me. Another track I'm not keen on a good jiving pace but I felt this could have soared although I reserve judgment until I've seen it live.Track 12. Here we go then (Peroxide Blonde) Mexican twist to the beginning and lead break. Track 13. I Do, Jive or Bop as long as you do you do you do!!!! Track 14. Copperhead Mine. Really Kicking Bopper!!!!
Again congratulations to Pete a very talented writer. There's nothing I don't really like in this album. I have my favourites and my least favourites but all in all it's a real slap in the face to anyone who thinks rockabilly isn't danceable. Brilliant! Thoroughly recommendable."
