Hot Boogie Chillun - a German band who manage to capture the very essence of British sixties beat combos messing with Rhythm and blues and mix it with 'Desperate' style fifties style Rockabilly. For a while they were very much the 'cult' band on the rockin' scene, with their early 45s getting a lot of attention in the clubs. These guys should have been huge, but I guess the media couldn't handle the concept of German R&B!
"Yeah, Hot Boogie Chillun from Germany are cool! This is their first CD. They have been getting rave reviews in various magazines, and they are very energetic. It might take some time 'til this record actually gets into your ears, 'cuz this music is quite demanding at places, but it'll be worth it. They didn't bring anything revolutionary to the scene, but still there's something in this record that gets you listening to it again and again. The sound is quite dirty (vox and guitar are distorted), and could be described as a unique combination of blues, 50's Rock'n'roll and even some soul. I ain't gonna talk too much about this record 'cuz the music can't be described by words, but this is definitely a recommended record.
