The Crescent City Maulers
The Crescent City Maulers are a New Jersey Neo-swing band. Their bassist had previously been in the The Razorbacks. The Crescent City Maulers perform jumpin' jive, boogie woogie and bop highlighting such artists as Cab Calloway, Louis Jordan, Louis Prima, Stray Cats, Brian Setzer, Gene Krupa, Wynonie Harris, plus their own originals of which one song, 'Lost For Words' is also on the 'Swing This Baby' disc which also featured Brian Setzer, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and many more prominent swing artists of today. In April of 1996, The Crescent City Maulers released their first CD, 'Screamin'. The group was also featured on 'Swing This Baby Two' and the 'blasters' compilation CD. This group's sound is edgier than the music of 50 years ago and the amount of music these four guys put out makes them sound like a ten piece band. Tony 'Scams' Salimbene emerges as a more brazen sax player and one who is likely to be seen out in the audience playing one of his solos wandering in and out of rooms and jumping up onto the bar. Sensational sax, booming standup bass, glittering guitar chords, driving drums, and the uncanny vocal sound which conjours up the vocals of an era that The Crescent City Maulers are recreating with their distinct sound, sense of humour and charisma. It's music that will have your toes tapping and your fingers snapping. The Crescent City Maulers have been exciting audiences for many years, combining rhythm and blues, jump, swing, and Vegas lounge. The band is credited for brining back the dance traditions of the 40's and 50's in the early 90's, and are featured on CD compilations with 'The Brian Setzer Orchestra', 'The Royal Crown Revue' and 'Big Bad Voodoo Daddy'. The Crescent City Maulers gained national attention in 1996 with the release of their CD, 'Screamin' and have appeared on USA NETWORKS 'Up All Nite' with Gilbert Godfried. They also appeared on USA's tribute to Jim Carrey. The Crescent City Maulers have performed and shared the stage with New Orleans legend 'Dr. John', 'The Dirty Dozen Brass Band', 'The Cherry Poppin' Daddies', 'Buckwheat Zydeco', 'Sonny Landreth' and 'Steve Riley and His Mallot Playboys'.
