Nekromantix
A bit more 'rock' than their previous recordings, The Nekromantix nevertheless come up with a quality recording that has been eagerly gobbled up by their fans.
"I was very fortunate to receive the new CD of the Nekromantix just before the Rumble. I've been listening to it now for quite some time. To me it's very different from their previously released CD's. It's still very Nekromatix, but they've really done their best to change some ingredients of the sound. The CD contains a lot of ballad-like psycho songs, which sound really good when you listen to them a few times. Actually I've begun to like the ballads the best on the CD. My favourites of the CD are 'Love at first bite', 'Last night I saved an angel' and 'Sea of red'. Some of the songs have some metal influences. There's a change in the Nekromantix lineup since the new album came out. The members are now: Kim Nekroman - Coffin Bass + Vocal, Pete Sandorf - Guitar + Backing Vocal, Kristian Sandorf - Drums. Pete Sandorf is the former Nekromantix guitarist who appeared on the band's first two albums." Wreckin' Pit
"The Nekromantix latest release starts to get a bit hard to describe. If you listen to any old Nekromantix, they never really fit the common mold of Psychobilly music, that's part of what made them so good, along with their talent, but this time I think that they've almost completely left the genre behind. Some would disagree though. Don't get me wrong, I still love this album and listen to it a lot but I think that it is more of a hard rock album than Psychobilly. There is a real metal feel to it, which makes sense since the band always categorized themselves as Monster-Metal anyway. Some of the better songs are the title track, 'Alive', and 'Sea of Red' all of which rock my *uckin' socks off, but I still don't think this is a psychobilly album. A lot of the older bands are doing this though, bands who've been doing this for years and years have decided to push the definition of Psychobilly, and I think thats a good idea. If you are a Nekromantix fan, you'll love this CD, if you are a Psychobilly-only fan, you might want to skip it." Josh K
