Light Crust Doughboys

Believed to be today's oldest continuous country music group, The Light Crust Doughboys are Texas' 'Goodwill Ambassadors'. Founded in 1931 by Burrus Mill & Elevator company to promote sales of LIGHT CRUST Flour, they were led by W. Lee (Pappy) O'Daniel, who later became two-term Governor of Texas and a U.S. Senator. Their popular noon-time radio broadcast during the 1931-1951 period featured many well-known musicians, including Bob Wills, and they made two Hollywood movies with Gene Autry.
