The Radiacs

This is the first time on CD for this long deleted vinyl LP from Sheffield's Radiacs. They recorded for the Link label in the 1980's and were popluar on what was then a big psychobilly circuit. They toured with The Meteors and recorded two albums. A studio album called 'Hell Raiser' and another live album were issued but are long since deleted, and are now collectors items. The Radiacs split in 1988 and various members went on to join The Meteors and The Blue Devils.

"Although in reality only bit-part players in the Psychobilly scene, Sheffield's Radiacs left a decent enough legacy, and the enthusiastic and honest sleeve notes help you warm to a band who seem equally amused and bemused by their own success. 'Hellraiser', their only studio album, originally released in the mid 80s and long since deleted, makes its way to CD for the first time. It's a basic collection, a little too reminiscent of others to be filed under classic, but there’s a real spirit and an air of fun and adventure in songs like 'Please Give Me Something', the upbeat rockin' 'Women And Wine' and the spooky title track. Hardly vital, but engaging in a rough 'n' ready way nonetheless." S. M.
