Absolutely brilliant, totally convincing UK hillbilly band. This is VERY classy stuff. If you like Rockabilly and are thinking about buying some country stuff, you won't go wrong here - I promise! Can those girls sing!
Country Music International October 1998 The family band from Southampton forge a more contemporary sound on this new album of all-original material. Pete Kyme steps back to allow daughters Christine and Louise to handle vocals on a set full of inventive songwriting with guitar licks and steel, accordion and fiddle flourishing perfectly in place. Christine's strong, crystalline voice takes lead on most of the songs. She is at her glorious, quirky best on 'Now That You've Gone', giving the lyrics a poignant, worldly vibe. She explores different shades and textures of her voice on 'One More Cigarette', while 'A Face In The Crowd' is a soothing acoustic country ballad that marries a honky-tonk beat with Christine's easy going delivery and Louise's sad-tinged harmony vocal. Other standout tracks in an engagingly arranged set include the serenely swaying 'Union Pacific', the chiming instrumental 'Iron Road' and the rhythmic 'Deception'. With exposure and support the Okeh Wranglers could well appeal to more than just committed connoisseurs. Adrian Cooke
