Johnny Loda

Playing in Italy for more than 20 years in different bands where he proved to be one of the best guitar players in the land, Johnny Loda brings out at last his first album as a solo artist. Far away from all the sterile discussion about the matter, his song list dips into old traditional country like the cover of Carl Smith 'Go, boy, go', as well as out of newer rockabilly bands like the Velvetones' 'Back in the cruel world'. Of course Johnny Loda stops by great rockabilly classics like Jimmy Lloyd's 'Where the Rio De Rosa flows'. He also has an open mind for his own compositions, where he can switch from a sweet country ballad as in 'Sweet 50's girl' to winking at the rockabilly authentic trend with the wild 'I don't need'. Johnny Loda...That's him...! A great musician with an Italian flavour and a great CD with a vintage sound ! Also features a twelve minute video.

"Rockabilly from the USA, from the United Kingdom, from The Netherlands – all right, there are lots of artists we know. But receiving the album 'That’s Me' gave us the first contact to the Italian singer and guitar player Johnny Loda. And boy – he’s soooooooo good! Founding his first band 'Nervous Kids and The Thunderbolts' in 1986 Johnny Loda declares guitarists like Scotty Moore, Eddie Cochran, Merle Travis and others to be his most important influences, and you can truly find this in his music. A sound to make your legs move which may come from an old Wurlitzer jukebox." CSR
