Ersel Hickey
The Rockabilly singer/guitarist Ersel Hickey (June 27, 1934 in Brighton, New York - July 12, 2004 in New York City, New York) had his biggest solo hit with his self-penned 'Bluebirds Over The Mountain', which was also covered by the likes of The Beach Boys and Richie Valens. His other songs have been recorded by diverse artists such as The Serendipity Singers, LaVerne Baker, and Jackie Wilson. On this collection Hickey sings his own tunes and is backed by Al Caiola on lead guitar plus The Ray Charles Singers. All recordings date from 1957 to 1960, with alternate cuts and previously unissued recordings included alongside his best known recordings. The 20-page booklet includes photos, session information and detailed liner notes.
